This brnigs back memories, Yellowstone is one of my favourite places on earth (how can you miss something so much that you have seen only once?).I second your opinion about the trail to the Morning Glory Pool, it's awesome.
I loved Arches National Park, and in fact, I've been there many times over the years. One of these years, Landscape Arch will crumble. I wish I could be inrocrect, but that's Mother Nature. As for the Cliff Palace and Mesa Verde N.P., I was not wowwed by it. I guess I have seen plenty of Indian ruins over the years, and while Mesa Verde's cliff dwellings is the most impressive collection, I wasn't taken aback like expected.Great blog entry. -Steve in Colorado

Joe, rude.

Anyway, thanks for this article. I came here by mistake once and never quite knew the name of it, so I could tell the story about my visit very well. Thank you for clearing that up for me!

Thanks Shirley! There have been four Canons so far that did this. It seems like there must not be any weather sealing on any of the Canons. This one started acting funny the first day I hiked with it and then died about 3 weeks later. It seems like any sweat that drips down on the camera while hiking has a pretty good chance of killing it! Canon wouldn't even honor the warranty on the one that was sent back to them.

Sorry you are having so much trouble with your cameras. I too had a 30D that died. Seems Canon needs to do some major correcting of their DSLRs. Wish you were in NC and we would offer you a spare room. Hope things go better and the replacement is a winner.

Hi Dee - Great to hear from you! Still haven't seen it all yet! Galveston was beautiful with all the birds and the beaches! A little bit of Arizona, all of Utah, and lots of California, Oregon and Washington came after Texas. I'm taking a little break now catching up on photos, writing and sleep :-) and then planning to wander around the country until into 2014. The goal is to make it to all of the national parks in the lower 48 states and anything and everything in between. It's exhausting but worth every beautiful sight!

There are lots more photos up on Facebook - http://www.facebook.com/SkiAnything

So Adam - you decided to keep your adventures going after 2 years?! The lifestyle must suit you! David and I met you at a Galveston beach during some great birding and photography. Glad to hear you are still a Nomad.

Hi Frank - I'm not sure about the summer but when I was there in March I waited till the very last minute and that was only about the 3rd out of 10 or 15 they offer to get issued for back country camping in White Sands. It is well worth it to go backcountry especially if you want to get away from it all for a night or get some nice sunrise or sunset photos!

Do you know how early in the day backcountry permits are usually all taken? Obviously this may vary from season to season but I'm particularly interested in how soon they get snapped up in summer, especially August.

I went there last November for thanks giving. It is the coolest aquarium I have ever been to. One of my favorite creatures were the sting rays. I was there when they fed them and the lady feeding them would get the rays up close to you so you could pet them. My favorite tank was the huge coral reef and I also like how they had the shark tank set up. I also likes the spider crabs and the colossal things that looked likekong shells almost.
