Despite lower elevations than Jackson Hole and the Jackson Hole Tram or gondola, the Snow King scenic chairlift rides are a nice compliment to all your other activities in the Jackson Hole and Jackson, Wyoming resort areas.  The Jackson Hole Tram provides stunning views of Jackson Hole Ski Resort but the Snow King scenic chairlift ride provides a whole new set of views and excellent views of the Tetons and specifically the Grand Teton!

The Snow King scenic chairlift ride will run you $12.00 and while you are over there you can go for a horseback ride, play a round of miniature golf or go for a thrilling ride on the Alpine Slide (take a chairlift up, ride down on a sled that goes down a cement track).  The chairlift ride takes about 20 minutes to go each way up and down (unless a lightning storm is on the way, then it goes faster) and provides plenty of time to look around and take in the sights. At the top there are nature trails and a couple viewpoints from which to gaze over at the Tetons, down into the valley and get an aerial view of the town of Jackson.

The Snow King Ski Patrol building is up at the top of the chairlift as is a little building that may serve as a small lodge at which to get drinks and possibly food in the winter ski season.  Good photos are hard to get on the chairlift ride up and down the mountain because the lift cables get in the way but if you take photos of either side of the valley or the mountains you can still get decent photos.  Should you decide to hike UP the mountain and all 1,571 vertical feet to the top you an take a chairlift ride back down for $2.00.  This is a much more manageable hike than than hiking to the top of the Jackson Hole Tram (4,139 feet, 7.2 miles) for a cheap or free ride down!

Along with a stagecoach ride, a trip to the Jackson Museum, a visit to the Jackson Hole and Greater Yellowstone Visitor Center, and perusing the art galleries in the town of Jackson, add a Snow King scenic chairlift ride to your short list of activities during a day in Jackson.  If you have time, go for a horseback ride and cruise down the alpine slide at Snow King as well for a full day of activities and cool sights!
